Description

The NSPCC Milton Keynes Half Marathon is held in July each year. The race starts at Bury Lawn School , Stantonbury, and takes place along the scenic route of the redway paths and the Grand Union Canal. The course is generally flat and offers an excellent opportunity for personal best times.

The event has built a great reputation for being well-organised, offering excellent facilities and, importantly, one where everyone is made to feel welcome and have fun. Age and ability are no barriers to taking part.

It should prove highly rewarding too. Since its inception in 1999, over £166,000 has been raised to date for local NSPCC Child Protection Services.

Curvature of the earth indeed... :-) I don't see any reason why the accuracy over that distance shouldn't be worse than 50-100m. I bet either just the adding up code is wrong (rounding errors possibly) or the race was actually longer, or both. The line looks pretty good.

Unfortunately the measurement process isn't 100% accurate - firstly it is dependent on the accuracy of the of the line drawn by the user (in this case me). Secondly it doesn't take into account the curvature of the earth's surface and lastly at this level of detail the distance calculated should only really be expected to be accurate to the nearest 1 mile.

This was supposed to be a half marathon how come it measures 14.3 miles?
